Crafting the father of tequila.

Tequila! Papi's Cantina was a fun idea brought to us with three things in mind; delicious food, great drinks, and a fun atmosphere. The ownership group wanted to not only develop the brand but for a story behind the name Papi to be crafted. After many hours of research and inspiration a story based on portions of truths was created for Papi, the father of tequila. The story below, explained how Papi came to be and the significance of what would be integral aspects in the brand.

"During the Prohibition, a legend was rumored to exist. A father of tequila, a notorious tequilero known for bringing tequila to the US. This legend garnered a simple but well known nickname; “Papi” amongst citizens and fans of his agave beverage. This man, Leonardo Tagle, grew up in the Tampico region of Mexico and eventually started his first tequila factory there. During the prohibition Tagle started to smuggle his blue agave tequila across the texas border into the states. He became such a notorious tequilero, not only amongst patrons at the many speakeasies that now served his tequila but also among the law enforcement trying to stop him. He was such an extremely elusive smuggler he was simply refereed to as  “The Blue Ocelot” by those trying so desperately to apprehend him. The reason for the name was simply because of the ocelot pin he wore on his coat and printed on his bottles, the blue for the blue agave he used in his brand of tequila."

The brand itself was a lot of fun to create from the story to the logo and icon. Knowing they wanted a fun and exciting vibe with the brand we decided to utilize fun pops of color and use of staggered spacing and overlapping elements to adde some eyecatching moments. Overall the brand and website really came together well to provide a unique, fun atmosphere to the concept. This was a basic restaurant style website build out with minimal use of advanced code.
